From sketch to abstract painting. An introduction to abstract painting using the landscape of Colby wood as inspiration.
During the morning session, I will show how you can use a sketchbook to form ideas and take visual notes. We will then be out in the environment, gathering information with sketches, photos and note taking, ready for an afternoon of painting.
In the afternoon , I will demonstrate techniques in mark-making, using colour, composition and a variety of painting techniques to develop your own expressive, abstract landscape
By the end of the workshop you will have explored landscape in an abstract and expressive way , and painted your own interpretation on 20 x 20 cm paper mounted ready to take away.
materials will be supplied Sketchbooks, pencils, charcoal, watercolour, acrylic paint, brushes etc, mounts
Dates: 27 May, 1 June, 10 July, 7 August
Time: 10.30 - 3.30
Cost: £55 per person Materials included
Please bring an apron or old shirt to wear.
Workshops are held in The Bothy adjacent to The Tearoom at Colby Woodland Gardens SA67 8PP. National Trust parking fees apply (free if a NT member).
For full day workshops lunch will be available to purchase from the Bothy Tearooms, located below the Loft Gallery or alternatively bring a packed lunch.
All under 12’s participating must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult throughout the duration of the session.

Cancellation Policy
Workshops must have a certain minimum number of bookings to run; we reserve the right to cancel workshops with insufficient bookings but will try to accommodate all booked customers as much as possible.
For a full refund, cancel at least 3 days in advance of the start date of the workshop.
