Steph Caunt
I have always loved glass and was totally hooked when I discovered lampwork. Lampworking or flameworking as its sometimes known is the process of heating glass in a propane oxygen torch and making and creating beads and glass sculpture.
I have always been mesmerised by how light moves through glass and love to spend time experimenting with what it can do. My work is inspired by many different influences including shapes from nature, art deco design and whatever quirky creature pops into my head.
I studied product design in Kent at Medway college of Art and having left college I then started a family and went back to work as a children’s portrait photographer. I eventually ended up in management and only came back to my creative pursuits 15 years ago when I was taught lampwork with one of the top lampworkers in the country.
After practicing hard and setting up my own studio and an online business I now make my own beads and jewellery and sell my designs all over the world.
